he company I work for attend conferences across America. Every time they get back from conferences they bring swag with them. One day we were asked to take whatever we like. My eyes were drawn to this small shiny toy. I have found this toy in every store I went to for a period of time. It was called a Fidget Spinner. To my curiosity, I got hold of it and yielded it a whirl to find out how it goes. I heard some asking, “are you stressed?". In disarray, I replied "No". It was my team manager. She then continued, "That was created for the people who have stress and it aids to handle stress". I smiled and we continued our meeting. Later I was back to my desk, I researched on this gadget and found out that she was right about that. At least how it is promoted.
The toy has been promoted as helping people who have trouble focusing or those who fidget by relieving nervous energy or psychological stress. There are claims that a fidget spinner can help calm people down who suffer from anxiety and other neurological disorders like ADHD and autism. However, as of May 2017, there is no scientific evidence that they are effective as a treatment for autism or ADHD. - Wikipedia
As I was reading about this, my thoughts went on to a known scripture text which talks exactly about the same.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, v, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Emphasis added) Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
Jesus spoke so much about this in (Matt 6:25-34) assuring his promises yet commanding us not to worry,
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
