Is Scripture Really Enough?
What the sufficiency of Scripture means — and what it does not mean — for the questions we bring to it.

When Christians say that Scripture is sufficient, we are not saying the Bible is a textbook on every subject. We are saying something both humbler and bolder.
What sufficiency means
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. — 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (KJV)
Paul claims that Scripture equips us for every good work. For knowing God, for being saved, and for living a life that pleases him, we are not missing a chapter.
What it does not mean
- It does not mean we ignore wisdom from God's world.
- It does not mean every question has a single verse answer.
- It does mean that every other source of wisdom must be weighed by the Word.
Why it matters for everyday life
When anxiety, conflict, or grief press in, the question is not only "what works?" but "what is true?" A sufficient Bible gives us a place to stand.
